The Muster manual
Muster records the hours you work, the nights you are away, the miles you drive and the countries you are in, and turns the lot into the timesheet your employer expects, or the hours you invoice from if you work for yourself. It runs in a browser and installs to a phone's home screen; it is the same app either way.
This manual says what to do on each screen, and says why only where the why is what stops you claiming the wrong number.

Employed or self-employed
Muster asks how you work, in Settings › How do you work?, and it is the same answer as how you are paid: choosing one sets the other.
| Employed | Self-employed |
|---|---|
| The Log's tick reads On company ERP | It reads Invoiced |
| Reports offers Send to HR and Download for HR | It offers Invoices in their place |
| Expected pay is your pay, from your salary or rate | It is what your invoices would charge |
| Today counts your week toward the 39 and the 48-hour limit | It counts your hours, with no threshold and no limit |
This manual uses the employed words. If you chose Self-employed, read Invoiced and your invoice wherever it says ERP and HR.
Four things worth knowing before you start
The timesheet is not the travel record, and neither replaces the other. A Saturday abroad with no work done leaves no trace in a timesheet, so if you count days from your hours alone you will under-count, which is the dangerous direction when the number is a legal limit. Set your home town and Muster records the days away for you.
Every entry is rounded up to the next quarter of an hour, after the unpaid break has come off. A minute becomes fifteen. Every screen shows an entry's hours rounded, the way the timesheet counts them. A timer started and stopped by accident is worth deleting rather than leaving.
A journey through midnight is two days' work. It shows on both days, each with its own hours, because the day decides what the hours are worth.
Nothing is paid because it happened; it is paid because it was recorded as something. Leave, sickness, a bank holiday, a day on site not working: each has its own way of being entered, and each is paid differently. A day with nothing on it is the one case Muster cannot interpret, which is why Summary lists them before you send.
