Jobs

Every entry is recorded against a job - a project, under the client it is for - and an activity, what you were doing. Most people's jobs come from HR or an admin, who set them up in the admin console. Somebody they have given project changes from the app adds and looks after their own, on this screen: a sole trader, above all.

The Jobs screen

Open it from Reports › Jobs › Hours by job. Each job is a row: its name, the client and the job code, how many entries and miles, and its hours on the right. The figures cover the entries the phone holds, about the last four months. A hidden job is listed last, marked Hidden, because its hours still count.

Tap a job for its own screen: Entries, Total hours and Total miles, and three buttons that use it straight away - Add timesheet entry, Clock in now and Log standard hours. Back to all jobs returns to the list.

With no jobs yet, the list says what you can do about it: ask HR or an admin to add the one you work on, or, for HR and admins, add them in the console under Jobs.

Your own clients and jobs

Only if HR or an admin has ticked Project changes from the app for you in the console. You cannot switch it on yourself, and choosing Self-employed in Settings does not switch it on. Without it, there are no buttons to add anything here.

Adding a job

Add a job, under the list, opens a short form:

FieldWhat it does
ClientOne of your clients, or A new client…
The client's nameOnly for a new client
The jobWhat you call this piece of work

Add job saves it. It is yours alone: nobody else on the installation sees it, and you can log time to it at once.

Changing a job

On a job of your own, its screen has This job:

You can change only your own jobs: one HR has opened to everyone is theirs to change.

Changing a client

If you are self-employed, your clients are listed under Settings › Features › Show pay figures, under Clients. Open one of your own and, beside its address and rate, you can change The client's name, or Hide this client and its jobs. Hiding takes its jobs out of sight with it, and showing it again brings them back; its entries, and the invoices it can still be sent, stay.

Your own kinds of work

Add your own kind of work adds an activity - Sanding, Design, a site visit - under What you call it. It appears in your Doing what list, and under Your kinds of work on the Jobs screen, where you can rename it or Hide it.

Your own kinds of work are always paid as ordinary work, exactly like Labour: they count toward the 39 and take Labour's overtime, Sunday and bank-holiday rates, never more and never less. A name the pay rules already use for a kind of hours - Sick, Holiday, Travel and the rest - is HR's, and is refused. Nobody else sees your kinds of work.
